The Consultation Process

Labiaplasty is a surgical procedure that requires careful consideration. Australian regulations mandate a structured consultation process before cosmetic surgery can proceed.

Step 1: GP Referral You will need a referral from your GP before booking your first consultation. If you do not have a regular GP, telehealth referral services are available.

Step 2: First Consultation During your initial appointment, Dr Konrat will review your medical history, examine your anatomy, and discuss your concerns. She will explain the DOVE surgical approach, discuss the procedure, and review risks and recovery requirements.

Step 3: Second Consultation A second consultation is required before surgery can be scheduled. This appointment allows time to ask further questions and ensure you feel fully informed.

Step 4: Cooling-Off Period A minimum seven-day cooling-off period applies after your second consultation before surgery can proceed. This is a regulatory requirement designed to support informed decision-making.

Understanding Risks & Recovery

All surgical procedures carry risks. Labiaplasty is an invasive procedure, and it is important to understand the potential complications before making a decision.

Risks associated with labiaplasty may include:

- Swelling, bruising, or bleeding

- Infection (uncommon)

- Temporary changes in sensation or numbness

- Scarring or delayed healing

- Asymmetry

- The possibility of revision surgery

Information about revision labiaplasty surgery is available for those who have concerns following previous surgery.

Recovery time varies between individuals. Most patients require time away from work and normal activities, and there are temporary restrictions on exercise and intimacy during the healing period.

During your consultation, Dr Konrat will explain these risks in detail and discuss what to expect during recovery.
